There are many ways to help the Utah Chapter of the Sierra Club. Please see descriptions below, leave your relevent contact infromation, and check as many opportunities as you wish.
Conservation Campaigns: The Utah Chapter has been fighting to safeguard our clean air and water, protect wilderness and parks, promote healthy wildlife populations and the land they rely on, and maintain the high quality of life in Utah since 1959. These are some of the campaigns we are working on:
- Move Beyond Coal/Climate Campaign
- Desert Protection
- Forest Protection
- Green Transportation/Smart Growth
Membership Cultivation: Members and volunteers are the lifeblood of the Sierra Club. Here’s your chance to talk to new members, recruit potential volunteers and promote social interaction and conviviality. We call and write postcards to new members, do tabling at events to recruit new members and volunteers, and organize socials.
Fundraising: Fundraising provides the resources we need to protect the environment and bring the change to a more sustainable community. Annual appeals including mailings and phonebanking, fundraising events and donor cultivation are some of the means we use. Help us make a difference.
Politics & Legislative Issues:The Sierra Club is one of the few environmental organizations that can actively lobby for the environment and endorse pro-environmental candidates at elections. We do this by working to elect Sierra Club-endorsed candidates (canvassing, phone banking, candidate review, literature production and distribution) and by contacting state legislators regarding particular bills & communicating with other members about bills (January/February state legislative session).
Outings: Getting people of all ages and interests into the beauty of the mountains & canyons has been one of our most important educational and motivational tools. It’s also great fun. We can help you get the experience and training needed to be an outings leader.
Communications & Social Media: Increasingly our communication with membership is via electronic means and social media. We need to get our message out to members, supporters and the general public. Your ideas, ingenuity and networks can help us influence the discussion.
